Job Summary:

Arab Potash Company is seeking a dedicated and qualified HSE Engineer to oversee all Health, Safety, and Environment operations at our facility in Aqaba. The selected candidate will be responsible for implementing the company’s HSE procedures, monitoring, and inspection programs to ensure a safe work environment. This role focuses on ensuring compliance with both internal policies and legal requirements through proactive risk management and fostering a strong safety culture within the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • at the Aqaba site, covering both daily operations and projects.
  • Conduct regular inspections of worksites, warehouses, and ongoing projects to ensure full compliance with safety regulations and standards.
  • Investigate all incidents and near-misses, identify root causes, and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
  • Monitor and report key HSE performance indicators (KPIs) and propose continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and loading/unloading of materials in accordance with established safety protocols.
  • Develop, update, and implement comprehensive emergency response and evacuation plans.
  • Foster and promote a strong safety culture among all site employees and contractors.
  • Provide technical support in the development and implementation of safety policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Follow up on required safety reports to ensure full compliance with legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Oversee the implementation of the risk assessment process for all APC site activities, ensuring periodic updates of risk profiling plans and submitting reports to the Director as scheduled.
  • Ensure regular execution of risk assessments and Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) for all contractors.
  • Design and deliver safety training programs to enhance employee awareness and ensure adherence to safety standards.
  • Coordinate and maintain effective communication with regulatory bodies in Aqaba, including but not limited to:
  •        ASEZA (Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority)
  •        Civil Defense
  •        Port Authorities

المهارات

Job Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred fire and safety Engineering.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), NEBOSH, or equivalent Occupational Health and Safety certifications.
  • Certified Occupational Safety and Health Specialist (accredited by the Ministry of Labor).
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in safety management within an industrial environment.
  • Solid knowledge of ASEZA regulations and port/maritime safety procedures.
  • Hands-on experience in incident investigation, safety audits, and HSE performance monitoring.
  • Excellent understanding of OSHA standards.
  • Strong proficiency in both English and Arabic, written and spoken.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with strong communication abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety-related software.
  • Non-smoker.
  • Preferred age: below 35 years.

The Arab Potash Company (APC) is a company that is primarily involved in harvesting minerals from the Dead Sea. It is the eighth largest potash producer worldwide by volume of production and the sole Arab producer of potash. The Company was formed in 1956 in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan as a pan-Arab business venture and it has a 100-year concession (1958-2058) from the government of Jordan that grants it exclusive rights to extract, manufacture and market minerals from the Dead Sea. It is headquartered in Amman and has its main plants at Ghor Al Safi.
